Grasshopper Manufacture is one of the most imaginative game developers working today, thanks largely to the vision of its top boss Goichi "Suda51" Suda. While fans eagerly await the June-releasing "Shadows of the Damned," Suda's collaboration with "Resident Evil" creator Shinji Mikami, they'll be able to tide themselves over with a newly announced iOS game from Grasshopper, called "Frog Minutes."
Unfortunately, the title is the sum total of information we have right now on the game. Additional details are set to be announced later this week on March 30 at the company's "Grasstream 2 Travis vs Garcia" anniversary event, Andria Sang reports. The event is happening in Japan and it will be streamed online via UStream in both Japanese and in English; the English-language stream will be broadcast right here.
There isn't even a release date yet for "Frog Minutes" -- expect that to come this Thursday -- but based on Grasshopper's plans, the game should be coming pretty soon. Revenue earned from sales of "Frog Minutes" will be donated to assist in the ongoing recovery efforts following the March 11 earthquake and resulting tsunami in Japan.
This is hardly the first example of the gaming industry stepping up to do the right thing in the wake of the natural disaster that occurred earlier this month. While a number of games were predictably delayed, Japan-based publishers and developers such as Nintendo, Sega, Tecmo Koei, Namco Bandai and Sony stepped up almost immediately with contributions to aid in the recovery efforts. Others have followed in the weeks since, including "EVE Online" developer CCP Games and Valve Corporation.
