There's no brand-new "Zelda" game coming to the Nintendo 3DS at launch, or even this year, but fans will still get to explore Hyrule in three dimensions with the revamped re-released of "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time." We already know that the 3DS cart will include the Master Quest version of the game to go along with the original, but now it seems that there may be even more new content than that.
In the latest update to Nintendo boss Saturo Iwata's "Iwata Asks" series he sits down with "Zelda" creator Shigeru Miyamoto again to talk about "Ocarina" and its legacy. As the two converse, Iwata lets a little nugget drop that hints we'll be seeing even more than has already been announced in the upcoming remake.
"Of course, the Nintendo 3DS version of 'Ocarina of Time' is crammed with interesting things that weren't in the Nintendo 64 version, but we'll wait to talk about those [until we're closer to] the release."
It's hard to read that as anything other than an admission that there's more content in the coming game than we've been led to believe. The two already ran through one of the more noticeable changes in a preview "Iwata Asks" entry.
Miyamoto said, "In the Nintendo 3DS version of 'Ocarina of Time,' we've set up a really nice system: while you use the AB and XY Buttons [to switch items], there is also a special button inside the touch screen as well so you can use them to switch between items right away."
As for whatever else there might be, it is anyone's guess at this point. An added minigame or two? Horse armor for Epona? A dungeon set in outer space in a "Super Mario Galaxy" crossover? Anything is possible. We'll find out this summer.
