1000 Heroz

After the surprise success of "Trials HD" on XBLA, developer RedLynx got right to work on a new Wii game, "Moto Heroz," which combines the physics-based racing of "Trials" with 4-player co-op play. Seems that's not the only project they're working on, though. RedLynx announced today that they'll be getting into the iOS business with a new game called "1000 Heroz," which mixes "Trials" with "Mario."

GameStop

It may not be in a year, or even five years, but sometime in the next decade, I seriously doubt there will be any physical GameStop stores left. That may sound crazy, but think about once-massive companies like Blockbuster and Tower Records. The former filed for bankruptcy last year, while the latter practically doesn't exist outside of a web-retailer. Both Blockbster and Tower were caught flatfooted by the digital age and paid the price for it.

As for GameStop, more major publishers release games digitally every day, and it's only a matter of time before a console releases without a disc drive, thus cutting out the need to go to the store to buy new games. GameStop is aware of this, and they're making moves to ensure their existence well beyond the next decade.

la noire

May 17 is a day of reckoning for Rockstar Games. The studio known for its action-heavy, intricately detailed open-world games is scaling back some of the sandbox action -- a chief draw for many players -- in its upcoming 1940s cops & crooks game, "L.A. Noire." You still get the massive, highly detailed world to explore, but as LAPD cop Cole Phelps, the focus is more on investigating and solving crimes than causing them. Based on what we've seen so far, the smart money is on another industry-shaking home run for Rockstar. And hey, you get to see a little more of it today in a newly released trailer!

Infamous 2

Ever since Sucker Punch started showing "Infamous 2" to the press, people have been asking whether Cole will get more than electricity powers this time around. I've probably asked them three or four times in the last year. And the response was always the same: "Cole is an electrical hero." That's all members of the development team would say. When asked follow-up questions about power variety, they'd repeat that same line. Almost like they were avoiding something. Turns out they were. While Cole remains primarily an electrical super hero, he'll be getting a bit more variety in his power set in "Infamous 2"

gears of war 3

There's less than a month remaining until the multiplayer beta for "Gears of War 3" officially launches. You can almost taste the Locust blood as it flecks across your face after a well-placed curb stomp, can't you? Aside from the beta letting you play new "Gears of War" maps, you'll also get to sample some of the game's many new features, weapons and executions. All of which take center stage in a newly released gameplay video!

pac-man galaga dimensions

Upcoming Nintendo 3DS release "Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions" was announced in early February. It's not what you think though. The two games included in the package -- "Pac-Man Tilt" and "Galaga 3D" -- change up the gameplay approach with a new set of mechanics designed to take advantage of the new Nintendo handheld's unique features. That's not terribly enticing for longtime fans who just want to see the classics rendered in 3-D, but now there's news that they'll be getting just that.

spider-man shattered dimensions

Last week we told you that Activision and franchise lead developer Beenox would be officially announcing the next "Spider-Man" game at this weekend's WonderCon in San Francisco. Apparently, they were all just to excited about the new game to wait. And so today brings the announcement of "Spider-Man: Edge of Time," a follow-up of sorts to last year's solid Spidey continuity jumper, "Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions" (pictured).

mega man universe

Perhaps you've heard of "Mega Man Universe." It's a 2-D side-scroller that Capcom had in development which would have offered players the opportunity to customize the look and performance of their personalized Mega Man and even create levels. Characters from Capcom's rich catalog were set to feature into the game, including folks from the "Street Fighter" and "Ghosts 'n Goblins" series'. I write all of this in the past tense because, sadly, "Mega Man Universe" is officially no more.

child of eden

When Microsoft first announced the Kinect at E3 2009, then known as Project Natal, some wondered where the appeal would be for the so-called "core" games. That question was answered at E3 last year with the announcement of "Child of Eden," Ubisoft's collaboration with "Q Entertainmentfounder and "Rez" creator Tetsuya Mizuguchi. The North America release date was confirmed for June 14 earlier this month and today brings a new trailer to whet your appetite.

Max Payne 3

It's been really quiet on the "Max Payne 3" front ever since the game was first revealed in, wow, March of 2009. At that time it was actually planned for a Winter 2009 release, but clearly they were a bit off the mark. Now, here we are, two years later, and we've got...two new screenshots! The first is up top, the second is after the break.
