Back in January, we had a pretty strong feeling that Telltale was working on a new game based on "The Walking Dead," the hit comic book series which has taken cable TV by storm. Seems the predictions were correct, as Telltale confirmed today that a "Walking Dead" game is indeed in the works. But comic book fans have more than just zombies to look forward to. Telltale is also working on a game series based on "Fables," the long-running franchise from Bill Willingham.
Telltale dropped the news of "The Walking Dead" and "Fables as part of an interview with eMoney. Unfortunately, if you're looking for details on how the games will play, the article isn't too much help. The focus is more about the profitability of episodic games than about the games themselves.
Thankfully you needn't wait long for more concrete details. Right this minute, one of our intrepid writers is attending a Telltale Games event in San Francisco. In addition to upcoming "Back to the Future" episodes and new "Jurassic Park" information, the event will also be focusing on "The Walking Dead" and "Fables." One would hope that it's more than just their existence, though.
As a fan of both franchises, I'm really excited to see what Telltale is working on. Both are incredibly rich, character-driven pieces, and if Bill Willingham ("Fables") and Robert Kirkman ("The Walking Dead") are on-board for the writing process, we can expect to see some impressive episodic gaming in our future.
Be sure to check back tomorrow, as we'll have plenty more on "The Walking Dead," "Fables" and the rest of the Telltale lineup.
