As you Xbox 360-playing readers come down off of the high of last weekend's Double XP event honoring the new "First Strike" map pack for "Call of Duty: Black Ops," you're probably looking for something new to play. And though you may be tempted to break out the old "Halo: Reach" disc, you might want to hold off for a bit as the next map pack, which may or may not be called "Defiant," could be announced before you know it.
French "Halo" fan site HaloDestiny somehow managed to get its hands on a bunch of blurry pics which seem to come from a new set of multiplayer maps for the game. Three locations are pictured: "Condemned," which is set aboard a human frigate, "Unearthed," set in and around a desert facility, and "Highlands," which looks like another "Halo"-standard battlefield of rolling green grass hills surrounded by towering mountains. This may or may not be the sum total of the coming map pack's offerings, but reports indicate that the collection -- whatever else it contains, if anything -- will be called "Defiant."

HaloDestiny went down shortly after breaking the news. They're back now with an explanation for the disappearance, but the original post is nowhere to be seen. You can still check out the leaked photos pretty much anywhere on the gaming Internet now, including here, but they source back to the original poster's Flickr page.

I'm more of a "Call of Duty" man myself, but I'm guessing you "Halo" fans are pretty excited about this news, huh? GamesRadar observes that the Highlands map in particular bears a strong resemblance to the High Grounds map from "Halo 3." What do you think?
