It's not "Gears of War," but Epic Games' upcoming first-person shooter, "Bulletstorm," developed with Polish studio People Can Fly, is one to look forward to nonetheless, if only for its arsenal of insane weapons and over-the-top kills. If you're still not sold -- and even if you are -- know that there's a demo for the game coming to Xbox Live and PlayStation Network on January 25...and that playing it will unlock bonuses that you can make use of in the final release.

"DC Universe Online" has a few hurdles to overcome, especially on the PS3, and one of the biggest is technological. Take for example the PS3 install requirement: 16 GB. That's right, 16 GB. Far above and beyond almost every other game in the PS3's library and it's not just suggested space, it's required. And so is hour and a half it takes before you can even start playing.

Oh what a long, strange trip it will continue to be. Two unlikely forces in pop culture are coming together in the oddest of ways. Social media monolith Facebook is set to be home to a game based on the life and music of '60s-era rock band, the Grateful Dead, Rolling Stone reports.

Get out your driving gloves and your mud-resistant jumpsuit, because Sony's damnably difficult-yet-gorgeous offroad racer "MotorStorm Apocalypse" has an official release date: April 12.

Developer Pop Quiz is a weekly interview series in which we ask developers from around the industry the same 10 questions and post their responses.
Mark Healey, the Creative Director for "LittleBigPlanet 2," started working on games on one of the first (and most popular) home computers, and now he's responsible for one of Sony's biggest games. While it wasn't always a smooth ride, Mr. Healey has an abundance of experience and knowledge, some of which he dispenses in this week's Developer Pop Quiz.

The concept of a 2-D platformer where the main hero has the ability to explode himself, thus propelling him through levels to escape from an evil laboratory seems pretty specific and unlikely to tread on any other games' footsteps. That was, of course, before the release of "Splosion Man" from Twisted Pixel back in 2009. Anytime after that, any game featuring a main hero that has the ability to explode himself, thus propelling him through levels to escape from an evil laboratory is basically a giant rip-off. Enter "MaXplosion," a Capcom Mobile game. Behold the official description of the game:

The lesson here: people like to build stuff. In spite of its clunky, last-last-last-gen graphics and status as a non-console game, "Minecraft" continues to be the hottest thing since fire. "Minecraft" developer Mojang's founder Markus Persson posted on his blog earlier this week that the 1 million sales marker was right around the corner for the game, a milestone that was surpassed as of last night, according to gameindustry.biz.

The recent boom of fighting games, thanks in no small part to the success of "Street Fighter 4," has led to some pretty intense bouts. But in an age where online gaming is the primary source for multiplayer, problems often arise. Take, for example, the rage quitter, who decides to yank his or her ethernet cord the second they think they're going to lose the match. It's sadly a common occurrence in online fighting games, but for "Marvel vs. Capcom 3," Capcom has come up with a clever way to combat those impatient, tempestuous souls.

"Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions" came out late last year and, in a giant "screw you" to other recent Spidey games, it defied the odds and didn't suck. Thank the developer, Beenox. Activision certainly is. They've named the Quebec-based studio as the lead on the publisher's future "Spider-Man" releases, including the tie-in to Sony's upcoming theatrical franchise reboot, which they're currently working on.
Let's just hope they're not also cooking up a "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" game.
