'Rock Band 3' Going Punk With The Clash's 'London Calling'

Posted 1/28/11 2:33 pm EST by Adam Rosenberg in News, PS3, Wii, Xbox 360

That "Rock Band" music catalog just keeps getting bigger and bigger. There are more than 2,000 downloadable songs now, and more coming every week. Next week's bunch is pretty exciting too: Harmonix announced via press release that, starting Monday, February 1, "Rock Band" fans will be able to download and play their way through the classic Clash album, "London Calling."

The music of The Clash is already featured in "Rock Band," including "I Fought The Law" and "Complete Control" as pure DLC and "Should I Stay Or Should I Go" from the first game. "London Calling" marks the first full album from the band being made available for the game.

It's quite a big one too. For those who are unfamiliar with The Clash, the early punk outfit formed in 1976 in the UK, but it was the 1979 release of "London Calling" that got the rest of the world to sit up and pay attention. More than 2 million copies of the album have been sold to date. The Clash sits at number 30 on Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Artist of All Time list and "London Calling" further gets a shout on RS's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list.

The DLC, which is only compatible with "Rock Band 3," includes a handful of songs that offer Pro Guitar and Pro Bass upgrades for an additional fee. Here's the full track listing. Songs marked with an X can be upgraded for Pro Guitar/Bass players:

• “London Calling” X
• “Brand New Cadillac”
• “Jimmy Jazz”
• “Hateful”
• “Rudie Can’t Fail” X
• “Spanish Bombs”X
• “The Right Profile”
• “Lost in the Supermarket”
• “Clampdown” X
• “The Guns of Brixton”
• “Wrong ‘Em Boyo”
• “Death or Glory”
• “Koka Kola”
• “The Card Cheat” X
• “Lover’s Rock”
• “Four Horsemen”
• “I’m Not Down”
• “Revolution Rock”

The release is coming to all platforms. Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii users can download the music for 160 MS Points/$1.99/200 Wii Points per song or 1600 MS Points/$19.99/2000 Wii Points for the full album. Pro upgrades cost an additional 80 MS Points/$0.99/100 Wii Points.
