If you've been playing "Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam" over the last couple weeks (or read our review yesterday), you'd know that apart from the four maps that shipped with the expansion, a fifth has been waiting in the wings. Yes, Operation Haystings, a jungle-y, vehicle-heavy map has been locked since launch, awaiting an important milestone: 69,000,000 team actions across every game on a given platform. And which platform was the first to hit the mark? PC! By a lot!
As you can see in the numbers above, the PC version of "Bad Company 2" hit 69,000,000 team actions in about half the time that it's taking console players. While that's good news for PC players, who get to enjoy a brand new map, it's not terrible news for 360 and PS3 players, who shouldn't have too much longer to wait. At this rate, we expect that the two consoles should get access to Operation Haystings in the first week or two of the new year.
If you're looking to get there a little sooner, though, do your part! Those 69,000,000 team actions include anything that helps the rest of the team, whether it be giving other players more ammo, health or armor for their tanks. Kills aren't included, though, so if you're just running blindly into battle with a flamethrower, it's not going to get you playing Operation Haystings any sooner.
Timed content like this is sort of devious, in that it keeps a game in the headlines after launch as the timers ticks down. But so long as it's free content, there's really no harm in it, right? Especially when there's nothing else coming out right now.
