'Star Wars: The Old Republic' Gives Credit To Troopers In Their Class Description

Posted 12/29/10 4:34 pm EST by Brian Warmoth in News, PC

Star Wars The Old Republic Trooper

With 10 years of gameplay on Bioware's list of goals for "Star Wars: The Old Republic," they're going to need a lot of class and combat options. The upcoming MMO game will have tons of races and starships, but it's also going to shine a spotlight on some occupations that have historically belonged to underdeveloped characters in the core Star Wars universe. Troopers are one such class, and Bioware's team has now explained exactly how they'll roll in the fight against the Dark Side.

"For decades, the armed forces of the Galactic Republic defended their civilization against the seemingly unstoppable Sith Empire," the Trooper entry on SWOTR.com states. "Despite countless setbacks, the men and women of the Republic military never backed down until the Senate ordered them to do so."

Basically, they want you to know that Jedis aren't the only ones fighting for Republic. Lightsaber-toting fighters tend to get most of the credit at the end of the day, but these guys and gals are the ones on the front lines with the heavy armor and weaponry, and they don't care about glory.

The trailer for the class shows off some fine guns, and they don't sound like they discriminate too much when it comes to companions; just check out this fellow Tanno Vik.

The Vanguard and Commando specializations look like they could be a lot of fun. If brute force and demolitions are your cup of tea, these guys should be the class that you're going to want to use.

Have you picked out your character class and race yet? What are you most curious about regarding "The Old Republic" right now? Share your responses with us in the comment section below.
