Nintendo may be ratcheting up their hype machine to finally break out a North American release date for the 3DS, but they've still got at least one big title to drop in 2011 for the soon-to-be-charmingly-retro DS. "Pokémon Black" and "White." Japanese players have had the games since September, but Nintendo has now confirmed that the U.S. will have both editions and the 150-plus new Pokémon types that come with them on March 6, 2011.
"Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version represent a generational leap forward for the renowned series, delivering an unprecedented number of new Pokémon to catch, battle and trade," Nintendo of America director of public relations Marc Franklin said in the company's announcement. "Whether you have played the Pokémon video games before or are just getting interested in them, you won't want to miss Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version."
Which edition you choose to pick up will swing chiefly on whether you care more about exploring the Black City and seeing the Legendary Pokémon Reshiram in "Black" or roaming the White Forest and finding Zekrom in "White." Snivy, Tepig, and Oshawott will be available in both, of course.
Both titles will also contain seasons, which should shake things up a bit for longtime fans of the series as they take to the new world of the Unova region and start tossing around their Poké Balls. Just be careful about who you challenge.
