Frank West and Chuck Greene's fated post-"Dead Rising 2" meeting and adventure into the Phenotrans Facility for "Dead Rising 2: Case West" received a December commitment from Capcom a few weeks ago, but they've gone ahead and locked the game in for a more accurate launch date on December 27 as of today. The standalone adventure with human and computer-assisted co-op options will squeeze into a slot on the Xbox Live Marketplace before the end of the year, so if an online zombie-hunting fest is your idea of a rockin' New Year's Eve, it will be here in time to serve your needs.
"Case West" will cost 800 MS points if you choose to download it, according to Capcom, but you won't need to already own "DR2" in order to play it. That follows suit with "DR2: Case Zero," which came out as a prequel to the series' 2010 installment. It also opens up Capcom's potential market for selling the game, since it really is its own game and not just a DLC pack.
The price point is a step up from "Case Zero," though; whereas that game debuted with a 400-point ($5) cost attached, Capcom's asking a bit more from you this time around by doubling their dollar amount. Frank is a popular guy among zombie-loving gamers, but $10 is going to test that love and could influence where his publisher sets their XBL prices for similar offerings going forward, I would imagine.
Is $10 too much for "DR2: Case West"? Is is just right? Share your reactions with us in the comment section below.
