'Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception' Confirmed, Heading To The Desert

Posted 12/9/10 12:10 pm EST by Brian Warmoth in News, PS3

Uncharted 3

Actor Mark Wahlberg and director David O. Russell have be siphoning so much Uncharted energy away to the film adaptation lately that it would be totally reasonable for you to have forgotten there's still a video game series coming out. Sony and Naughty Dog haven't forgotten, however, and even if they aren't pumping sequels out with the annual frequency observed by the Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed series, they do plan on getting "Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception" out in 2011.

Anyone rooting to see "Uncharted 3: World of Deceit" become the new sequel's title is going to be disappointed to know that "Drake's Deception" is true title this time around, according to an Entertainment Weekly report. There will be ample portions of deceit to go around, though, as the new chapter in Nathan Drake's life will wrestle with his identity and some lies he may have been told, as well as some lying that he's got to get away with himself.

The few details Naughty Dog put out there don't shed a whole lot of light on on the story, but they were willing to concede that Drake's relationship with Victor "Sully" Sullivan will play a prominent role in things and that Drake will end up traversing the Arabian Peninsula and the Rub' al Khali Desert, which came as a direct result of sand-loving nerdery within the studio.

"We're a bunch of nerds," Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells told EW. "We just look for something that will be a technical, artistic challenge, and allowed us to push into an area of the world and history we've never tapped into before."

Do you dig the new title for "Uncharted 3"? What else do you want to see Naughty Dog address in the game? Share your thoughts with us in the comment section below.
