Kratos Joins 'Mortal Kombat,' David Jaffe Reacts

Posted 12/8/10 6:30 pm EST by Brian Warmoth in PS3, Xbox 360

Kratos coming to Mortal Kombat

Kratos crashed one fighting game party last year, when he nabbed a guest appearance in "Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny," and it now looks like he's going to be stepping up the violence for his return trip to the genre in "Mortal Kombat." The importance of this news in turn was reportedly not lost on original "God of War" visionary David Jaff.

"Dude Kratos would have a F---ALITY and f--- the S--- out of Sonya AND Katana at the same m-----f---ing TIME!!!! :) ," Jaffe wrote on his Twitter account, according to a post on Giant Bomb. Unfortunately, his colorful response appears to have since been removed from Twitter, but more info about Kratos' involvement in Vs. mode (sorry, he's not a part of the story) on the PlayStation 3 and the moves, fatalities and stage he'll come with are addressed in the January issue of PlayStation: The Official Magazine.

Kratos' fighting style should be be much better suited for an MK tournament than it was for "Broken Destiny," though Jaffe's expectations are probably a bit lofty.

In other less official news, TRMK.org reports that some users stumbled into an unprotected sub-directory on the the Official Mortal Kombat web servers, revealing sound files associated with the "Test Your Might" challenges, as well as the following unannounced characters:

• Goro
• Quan Chi
• Stryker
• Noob Saibot
• Sindel
• Kabal
• Shao Kahn
• Smoke
• Shang Tsung
• Ermac

Stryker's toys have been fun to play with in the past, but at the end of the day, the most pressing question left on my mind is who will rip in half first when Kratos meets Goro. The gore meters will be tested in this game.

Are you looking forward to playing as Kratos in "Mortal Kombat"? Who else would you like to see get a guest slot? Share your opinions with us in the comment section below.
