Angry Birds

Android users received a pleasant surprise back in October when Rovio released "Angry Birds" for free on their mobile platform of choice. The company, whose publishing partner Chillingo recently got scooped up by EA, has been participating this week in London's Social Gaming Summit and the Virtual Goods Summit today, and it looks like they'll be following in the path of "Plants vs. Zombies" as they try to slingshot their unique brand of fun onto a wide variety of new systems.

No, you aren't imagining things if you thought "Gran Turismo 5" had already received a release date. The new sequel was supposed to be out on November 5. Before that it was supposed to appear in Japan in March. Its developers do regret the postponements, though, and an apology was included with the new announcement that it will arrive on November 24.

Nintendo has been celebrating the 25th birthday of "Super Mario Bros." with cake and special red Wii bundles, and you should have any problems finding deals on "Wii Sports Resort" bundles on Black Friday. Call of Duty Black Ops

Multiplayer issues have been affecting "Call of Duty: Black Ops" since it launched, and Treyarch would much rather you report problems to them discreetly rather than posting videos of glitch exploitations in action. Their first major patch has arrived for the PC edition via Steam, however, and it's intended to clean up lag issues, as well as a few other annoyances.

Man vs. Wild

Developer Pop Quiz is a weekly interview series in which we ask developers from around the industry the same 10 questions and post their responses.

Epicenter Studios and Scientifically Proven Entertainment's CEO, Nathaniel "Than" McClure, has worked on some of the biggest games in video game history, namely "Star Wars: Jedi Knight 2" and the "Call of Duty" franchise before he branched out and started his own company. Since then he has been trying to look "for new nontraditional ways to engage the gamer and non gamers" through games like "Rock of the Dead" and the upcoming "Man vs. Wild" game, based on the Discovery Channel show of the same name. This week, he is the center of our Developer Pop Quiz feature where he gives us some insight into his thoughts on the industry, who he is as a gamer, and why chopping people's heads off is a bad idea.

Call of Duty: Black ops

Let me start by saying that "Call of Duty: Black Ops" is a great game. If you're wondering why, check out our review. The game's campaign is more cohesive and exciting than "Modern Warfare 2" and the multiplayer is top notch, as well. But it's not perfect. And when it comes to the first mission set in Vietnam, it's just plain bad. Here's what went wrong.

(Spoilers to follow if you haven't played through the first mission set in Vietnam, natch.)

Duke Nukem Forever

It's undeniable that the landscape of first-person-shooters has changed since "Duke Nukem Forever" was announced in 1997. Over the course of those 13 years titles like "GoldenEye 007," "Metal of Honor," "Halo 2," "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" have all been released and helped evolve FPS games beyond three dimensional running and gunning. The genre has matured, much like the gamers that love playing it. Duke's upcoming game began development so long ago that anyone that can remember its predecessors were in high school (or even middle school) when "Duke Nukem 3D" was released, and a lot of things have changed since then. It beckons the question; is there still room in the industry for a game about a guy who likes to kick ass and chew bubble gum?

Space Miner Blast

Venan Arcade has been quietly putting out some of the best iPhone games the market has to offer. Their first game, "Space Miner: Space Ore Bust," managed to meld "Asteroids"-style gameplay with RPG-like character customization in the form of persistent ship upgrades. Next up was "Ninjatown: Trees of Doom," one of those never-ending survival games where you have to climb a massive tree as characters from the popular plush series. Both games have been installed on my iPhone for months now, which is saying a lot, considering I'm very anti-clutter. They're charming, well-made and tremendously fun to play.

"Crazy Taxi" and the "Halo: Reach" Noble Map Pack are both still on schedule to hit Xbox Live in the second half of November, as are some big discounts on Hasbro Family Game Night titles, including "Jenga," "Boggle," "Battleship" and "Connect 4." All this, and XBL will be allowing non-Gold users to try out Gold member benefits at no extra charge for a few days.

Stargate Worlds

"Stargate Worlds" was announced as an upcoming MMO from Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment back in 2006, thanks to a deal with MGM Studios. Despite winning a court fight over SG assets, however, CME has lost their license to develop anymore SG games. They managed to rush out "Stargate Resistance," but "Worlds" doesn't look like it's going to be quite as fortunate.
