If finding out about Guillermo del Toro's new THQ/Volition project wasn't enough to get you interested in the 2010 Spike Video Game Awards on December 11, perhaps a first official glimpse at "Batman: Arkham City" will be. "Arkham City" screenshots from the game leaked out earlier this year, but the VGA's will have something a little more glamorous.

Well, we were told it was coming, and now we know when. Bethesda has dated the first DLC pack for "Fallout: New Vegas," saying that it'll come exclusively to the Xbox 360 on December 21, 2010. Titled "Dead Money," the DLC will add new, um, weapons, terrain and choices. If it sounds like I'm being vague here, it's only because the press release was really, really vague. Seriously, if you strip out the general info about the release date, this is all we have to go on in terms of the actual story:

Heroes Sora and Riku will return for Square Enix's "Kingdom Hearts 3DS," but the series' director Tetsuya Nomura wants to take them into some new Disney-verse places for the title. Asked if the game would retread old paths, he kept quiet about which settings would show up, but he did tease that previously unseen parts of the Kingdom are currently being discussed.

CD Projekt Red decided not to let "Marvel vs. Capcom 3" steal all the attention this week as far as games premiering release dates and special editions go. The Polish studio has committed to a May 17 roll-out date for their MMO "The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings," and though GameStop now seems to have pulled down the listing, Joystiq spotted a $130 collector's edition on the retailer's website. "The Witcher 2" was supposed to be out a bit earlier, but as most studios tend to do, CD Projeckt is crediting the need for polish for the delay.

EA kicked off a Need for Speed spin-off series with "Need for Speed: Shift" in 2009, but as of the second installment, the words "Need for Speed" appear to have dropped off the title to make room for the name "Shift 2 Unleashed." In all fairness, the long-running racing franchise already has plenty of exposure at the moment, thanks to projects like "Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit" and "Need for Speed: World" hitting this year. With a new rendering engine and a strong predecessor to pivot off, though, EA sounds confident that "Shift" will be a strong enough name on its own.

Developing video games based on nostalgia is always a slippery slope. Sure, people will speak lovingly of the games of their youth, but that doesn't always mean that they actually want to play those games. (If that was a truism, those compilations of old Genesis games would move "Call of Duty" numbers.) So just because "Goldeneye 007" originally released for the N64 in 1997 and was one of the most incredible titles of that console generation and still one of the most influential first person shooter in the history of gaming, that doesn't necessarily mean that it's still worth playing in 2010.
However, unless you're really attached to the idea of taking control of Pierce Brosnan (his visage has been replaced by Daniel Craig's, the most recent James Bond), the newly revamped "Goldeneye 007" for the Wii is both a delightful trip down memory lane and a worthy modern gaming experience.

Bizarre Creations built its name on racing with the Project Gotham series, but Activision is exploring options regarding the "Blur" and "James Bond: Blood Stone" studio right now, and those options don't appear to include promising outcomes for their Liverpool staff. A post on a NeoGAF thread stoked rumors that the studios was being completely shut down, and while that hasn't been eliminated as potential outcome, Giant Bomb reports that Bizarre will be going through a "90-day consultation period," during which Activison will decide what their next step will be.

We're getting ever-closer to the PC release of "Super Meat Boy," and every week we're getting new and interesting reasons to buy the game all over again. This week, we've got a decision to make. It seems that the guys at Team Meat will be replacing Gish with a different character for the PC release. Since Gish was one of the only unlockable characters originally created by Edmund McMillen (one of the two members of Team Meat), replacing him probably won't piss anyone off...save for the diehard "Gish" fans out there.

The "Marvel vs. Capcom 3" news for this week didn't stop with She-Hulk and Zero; Capcom kept their announcement momentum going and opened up about the game's special edition, the two downloadable fighters that will come with it, Shuma Gorath and Jill Valentine, and the release date when everything will land in stores, February 13, 2011.

Review by Chris Plante
"Assassin’s Creed" spent three years in development, "Assassin's Creed 2" took two years and "Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood," the latest addition to the franchise, had a single year turn around. With less time in the oven, is "Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood" undercooked? Or has publisher Ubisoft mastered the recipe for success?
The Basics
The year is 1499 and Ezio Auditore de Firenze is leaving the “The Vault” in which he successfully battled Pope Alexander XI (aka Rodrigo Borgia, aka the antagonist of "AC2") for control of the Papal Staff and the Apple of Eden. The "Assassin Creed 2" adventure has just concluded and things appear to be looking up for our bearded hero.
