If Black Friday shopping doesn't qualify as your ideal way to celebrate Thanksgiving this weekend, Rockstar Games proposes something a little different. It's been awhile since they last offered double experience points for "Red Dead Redemption," and now that their Undead Nightmare DLC pack is coming to retail on a disc, they've opted to celebrate by making it a little easier for everyone to level up for a few days.

Amid all of the patches and fixes for "Fallout: New Vegas," Bethesda's releasing some updates that we won't regret needing in the first place, and the first such pack of content is going to be called "Dead Money." We already knew that it would be out on December 21, 2010, but senior designer Chris Avellone has elaborated a bit a on where it will take the "New Vegas" story and how it will accessed.

Gish may have been replaced for the PC version of "Super Meat Boy," but he just got 20 extra levels worth of DLC for the Xbox 360. The character-specific chapter titled "The Sewers of Dross" marks the first wave of what the developers promise will be multiple free updates for their game.

Apple's Game Center launch back in September left iPads out in the cold. A lot of fun Game Center-compatible titles showed up that were playable on iPad as well, but it took Apple's long awaited iOS 4.2 update today for the iPad to actually allow those games to feed into Game Center's leaderboards and achievements while they're being played in tablet mode.
Apple, meanwhile, is hoping that enhanced gaming functionality, together with iOS multitasking, iTunes TV show rentals, free Find My iPhone use, AirPlay and AirPrint will turn their device into a more compelling sell for the holidays.

The fate of Sony's PlayStation Portable brand has mostly been a head-scratcher in 2010. The year definitely didn't become the PSP go success story that its makers were hoping for, but rumors about a PSP 2 appearance at E3 and dev kit sightings have kept speculation alive that something new is on the horizon. More recently, images of a potential PSP phone showed up on Engadget, and though Sony isn't copping to anything specific, someone over at Sony Ericsson is will to fan the flames.

I know I'm not alone in my fondness for the "Donkey Kong Country" games. Few franchises better represented the highs of the SNES era than "DKC," and its subsequent sequels managed visuals and gameplay never before seen on the platform. Unfortunately, since 1996's "Donkey Kong Country 3," the closest we've seen to a follow-up was "Donkey Kong's Jungle Beat," a platformer which required that players use bongo controllers. The wait for a true sequel ends now, though, as "Donkey Kong Country Returns" is absolutely a return to form. But has Kong aged gracefully?

Interplay must have wanted to keep pace with Apple, because the Fallout series' Pip-Boy device now has a cousin that's been named on the company's website as the "Pip-Pad." This post-apocalyptic iPad specializes in content with lots of text and high-res images, much like those tablets and e-readers floating around in the real world, and though its role in "Fallout Online" isn't totally clear yet, the gizmo looks like the kind of tool that might be useful if you find yourself wandering around a beta test in the coming year or two.

The icon editor in "Call of Duty: Black Ops" is really powerful. If you have the motivation (and the credits), you can make just about any symbol you can think of using the layered system. For example, I created a glasses-wearing skull wearing a rainbow wig with a heart tattoo on his forehead. And it took a lot of effort!

Over the last few years, Sega has had their mascot play a host of different roles, from a knight to brawler, and just about everything in between. Unfortunately his versatility hasn't really panned out so well. The third game in two months to bear the name of the blue hedgehog, "Colors" attempts to mix the successful elements of Sonic's recent games with a few new tricks.

If the heroes of "The Lord of the Rings Online" ever want to make it to Saruman's tower of Orthanc, they're going to need access to Isengard, and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has revealed that entry will be possible approximately one year from now. "Rise of Isengard" will come in Fall 2011 with a level cap increase to 70, revamped monster play and an eastward push across Middle-earth into new areas.
