Square Enix has been letting trailers and tidbits trickle out for most of the last year in anticipation of "Deus Ex: Human Revolution," which will be immediately welcomed by heaps of critical pressure when it finally arrives. It will however also be accompanied by a special "Augmented Edition" for buyers willing to lay down an extra $10 and an extra mission pack for those pre-ordering at GameStop.
The Augmented Edition will ship with a 40-page artbook; a DVD with a "Making of" video, trailers, animated storyboards of the CGI trailer and the "Human Revolution" soundtrack; special packaging and a "motion graphic novel."
GameStop, meanwhile, will be offering the "Explosive Mission Pack" to pre-ordering customers, and though the quantity and size of the explosions contained therein were not spelled out in their announcement, the pack will contain at least one exclusive mission featuring an original "Deus Ex" character in a "special cameo," the Linebacker G-87 multiple shot grenade launcher, the M-28 Utility Remote-Detonated Explosive Device (UR-DED) and an Automatic Unlocking Device.
I'm curious to know more about that motion graphic novel and whether it will be made from original content or just put wobbly Flash-animated heads on DC Comics' 6-issue miniseries that starts in February and force you look at it one panel at a time with some voice tracks in the background. Hopefully it's a bit more worthwhile than that.
The deluxe package will only cost you $69.99 for Xbox 360 and PS3 and $59.99 for PC, though, which isn't a bad deal for the amount of loot Square Enix is throwing in.
