Electronic Arts' Battlefield franchise will be branching out soon with "Battlefield Play4Free" and a "Bad Company 2" iPhone game in the App Store, but EA hasn't forgotten about DLC for the core series' latest chapter. "Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam" will hit the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 before the end of the year, but the system you play "BBC2" on will determine how soon you can download their new expansion pack.
The EA Store and Steam will start selling the DLC first for PC users on December 18, 2010, according to an announcement today from the publisher. Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network will get it a few days later on December 21, and it will cost $14.99 or 1200 MS points.
Basic specs are readily available on "Bad Company 2" website, and by the numbers "Vietnam" will come with 4 new maps, 6 vehicles, 15 new weapons and 10 new achievements and trophies. It will also boast a new soundtrack and voiceovers based on real U.S. and North Vietnamese Army communications from the conflict.
You'll be able to play as a U.S. Marine or members of the NVA on the new maps in both Conquest and Rush modes, and though it doesn't appear to have any real mission-based objectives, this DLC already looks like a slightly more realistic war game experience than the Build engine classic NAM, which is the bar by which I measure all Vietnam FPS titles.
