'Transformers: War For Cybertron' Sequel Confirmed For 2012

Posted 11/15/10 3:23 pm EST by Brian Warmoth in News

Transformers sequel

Activision and Hasbro have now moved passed the stage of talking to each other about doing a "Transformers: War for Cybertron" sequel and are now ready to talk to to the general public about it; or at least Hasbro is. In addition to unloading a "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" game to coincide with Michael Bay's third TF movie in 2011 and an MMO from NetDragon, a "War for Cybertron" follow-up will be scheduled to drop in 2012.

"This is the most highly-rated, critical success of any game that's had the Hasbro brand yet and we're looking forward to a sequel in 2012," Hasbro SVP and general manager of digital media and gaming Mark Blecher announced during an investor conference last week.

High Moon Studios hasn't been officially tagged as the next game's home base, but the story says it's likely. They put out a fine effort with the first "War for Cybertron," and I see no reason that they should lose out on making round 2, unless they're busy with other things.

Really, as long as they bring back the the voice-acting cast and throw in a surprise addition or two with some more recognizable robots in disguise for fan service, "War for Cybertron 2" should do just fine. And if High Moon lets you play as Grimlock in both his old tank and modern dinosaur forms, I would not complain.

Are you pumped for a "War for Cybertron" sequel? What would you like to see happen in the game? Share your proposals with us in the comment section below.
