When Microsoft rolled out Kinect at E3 2010, they included some short demo scenes from a Star Wars game. Unfortunately, we haven't see much more of that game since, save a lonely Amazon.com listing that still predicts a December 31, 2011 launch date. Hopeful Jedi Knights have a little more hope to cling to this week, however, as Microsoft has confirmed that "Star Wars Kinect" is still being readied for next year.
"We have a Kinect Star Wars game coming out for next holiday," Kinect for Xbox 360 creative director Kudo Tsunoda told the BBC.
Tsunoda didn't talk about any gameplay or story details, but he did say that he's witness quite a bit of it in motion.
"I've seen a bunch of the game and it's super compelling," he revealed.
As for whether or not Darth Vader will be playing a major role in it or how it will fit into the Star Wars universe's larger mythology, those are questions that LucasArts and Terminal Reality will be getting asked a lot in 2011. There will be lightsabers involved, though, and assuming what's already been shared doesn't get completely scrapped, there will be Jedis, Stormtroopers and at least once appearance by a post-"Episode 3" Lord Vader. If they want to throw in some Force powers from "The Force Unleashed 2" to top things off, I'm sure fans of the series wouldn't mind.
