EA appeared on Nintendo's list of third-party 3DS developers at E3 2010, and EA Sports intends to bring out their big franchise guns alongside Konami's "Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater" and Capcom's "Street Fighter 4" next year. With the 3DS not coming to America until March, "Madden NFL Football" won't be out in time for the Super Bowl, but EA has tagged it for the first half of 2011, so it should still be out before 2011 pre-season play begins.
Madden's debut on the 3DS will bring three game modes, according to EA's announcement. GameFlow will streamline your play-calling and auto-select your plans in certain situations, while Classic will provide the most robust catalog of plays for seasoned veterans to pick from, and Arcade will feature similar gameplay with an abbreviated playbook.
All 32 NFL teams and their stadiums will be included, as you might expect, only in 3-D this time. The release says nothing about the game's namesake actually appearing in 3-D, but I would love to see EA Sports make that happen. 3-D Madden Cruiser entrances, mutant turkeys with too many legs and John Madden illustrating his critiques in some kind of new 3-D digital pen system would instantly elevate this game into the launch-day buy category for me. We're in a new age of display technology, so it should all be possible, right?
