THQ wasn't willing to cop to their collaboration with Guillermo del Toro in September, but THQ core games executive VP Danny Bilson is apparently open to discussing the subject now, and his timing seems to be on the mark as Smile Politely, an online magazine for the Champaign-Urbana area in Illinois where Volition is located, reports that del Toro is visiting the studio right now regarding his "creative director" role on an upcoming project.
"You've heard rumors of us working with a big film director who is actually a big gamer," Bilson said during his keynote speech at the IGDA Leadership Forum, according to a report on Joystiq. He went on to reveal that his company "will be announcing the game title and the studio and all of that on the VGA awards in about a month."
Multiplayer and the rest of the general public have known for months that the "Pan's Labyrinth" and "Hellboy 2" director was plotting something with THQ. It's nice to see that the untitled project is now official enough for both parties to acknowledge it on the record, though.
The 2010 Spike Video Game Awards are scheduled to air in mid-December, so it seems as though we may have a title to talk about by the end of the year; and that's more than we have right now, which amounts to little more than a scoop that the game won't be called "Sundown."
