Black Ops PC specs

Dedicated servers in "Call of Duty: Black Ops" won't mean a whole heckuva lot if your machine won't run the new game. Fortunately, Treyarch's PC requirements for "Black Ops" have been revealed, and they don't seem to be too over-demanding. You'll need at least a 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600GT or ATI Radeon X1950Pro, but beyond that your DirectX 9.0-running system will probably be good to go after downloading the game via Steam.

Apple Event

Apple is holding another press conference today and, as usual, they're streaming to Mac devices only. But say you don't have a Mac device on hand? Don't worry, we've got you covered with a frantic liveblog of all the big events. Hold on to your hat, news is on its way!

Before we start, though, some guesses. New version of OSX seems likely. It'll probably be called Lion (see above image) and we expect it'll be tied into iOS more fluidly. We also expect new Macbook Airs to be announced, with hopefully smaller price points.

Tomb Raider

"Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light" was kind of a shock. Although I initially wrote it off as an easy cash-in between large-scale Tomb Raider games, it ended up being one of the best entries in the franchise. It was original, fun and creative, and offered some excellent same-couch co-op play. Unfortunately it didn't support online co-op at launch, though the developers promised a post-release patch would come out a month after. But here we are, two months after release, and still nada.

For 360 fans, though Crystal Dynamics seems convinced that the wait is almost over. The patch which will add online co-op is scheduled for release on October 27. PS3 and PC fans will have to wait longer, though, as there's no scheduled release date for online co-op on those platforms.

Super Meat Boy XBLA deal

Just because Super Meat Boy agreed to do a cameo in "Bit.Trip Fate," don't think that he's forgotten to appear in his own game this week on Xbox Live Arcade. In fact, Team Meat has put more than just their hero through the grinder for the launch; they've also hacked 33-percent off its sale price for a limited time, making this 2D platformer that Russ loved a good deal at only 800 Microsoft points.

Twisted Metal

The ESRB has been known to spoil the existence of unannounced releases before, and they may have inadvertently done so again, this time with a PSOne Classics treatment for the original "Twisted Metal." Eat Sleep Play broke out glimpses of their latest sequel for the PlayStation 3 at E3 a few months back, and it looks like they want PS3 and PSP owners to have ready access to the release that started it all in all of its fiery T-for-Teen-rated glory.

Medal of Honor DLC

EA has taken their new "Medal of Honor" through its beta test and onto store shelves, so the logical next step will be to unleash some DLC. In an announcement claiming 1.5 million sales, they've done just that and gone a step further revealing that a new multiplayer mode and two additional maps will be free for owners who picked up un-used copies.

Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney

The video game equivalent of a "Matlock"/"Diagnosis Murder" team-up has been unveiled in Japan, with Capcom's objection-loving attorney Phoenix Wright getting an outing for the Nintendo 3DS with Level-5's puzzle sleuth Professor Layton. In the spirit of "Marvel vs. Capcom 3" and "Street Fighter x Tekken," the two big minds will share the spotlight in a game called "Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney."

THQ

THQ didn't stop at recruiting former Ubisoft creative director Patrice Désilets of "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" and Assassin's Creed series fame in getting things rolling at its new super-sized Montreal studio. The operation so new that it isn't even listed on Ubisoft's website yet will hold a prominent place in the company's plans, hosting the development of two big games and new intellectual property.

Fallout New Vegas

"Fallout: New Vegas" is a very big game. Huge. And I'm not just talking about the map. There's so much stuff to discover in this game that it would take you well over 100+ hours to dig through every nook and cranny. If you've got slightly limited time on your hands, though, I thought I'd give you a hand, walking you through some of the cooler hidden things and also giving you some pointers on how best to build your character.

Note: This guide is likely to expand over the course of several days/weeks, so keep checking back!

Kirby's Epic Yarn

When it comes to Nintendo's most recognizable mascots Mario has always held the spot at the front of the line, followed closely by Link with the famous bounty hunter Samus rounding out the top three. Right behind all of those long-standing franchises is the little pink puffball, Kirby. while he may not be the most recognizable of the bunch, he certainly has a devout fan base who have been waiting ten years to see him return to consoles in a proper adventure all his own. Fortunately for them, Nintendo has answered their prayers and brought forth one of the most stylistically unique titles to ever grace any console, "Kirby's Epic Yarn."
