You may recall a few weeks ago when Valve added the Mann Co. store to "Team Fortress 2," which allowed players to purchase in-game items for real world dollars. You may also recall that some of those for-sale items were actually created by users, and that Valve would give those users a portion of every sale. Well, first off, you have a good memory. Secondly, you may be wondering whether Valve made good on their promise. They did! But how much did the creators rake in? A heck of a lot.
Just five users were chosen to upload their creations to the "Team Fortress 2" store, and each of those five users made between $39,000 and $47,000. Wowza, that's a lot of scratch for making a funny in-game hat and some weapons!

Disc-based "NBA Jam" for the Xbox 360 and and PlayStation 3 is no rumor anymore; after all, rumors don't get official release dates. Some of its features won't arrive until a downloadable update becomes available in December, but the core game will arrive a little earlier than some may have expected for $49.99 on November 17.

This story makes me realize that, from time to time, I really hate this planet. It seems that fans of "Minecraft," the open-world, retro-styled sensation, have hijacked the official "Minecraft" site with a large denial of service attack. The site is currently accessible, but current users won't be able to log on and new users won't be able to purchase new versions of the game. What was the reason for the hijacking? Apparently the hackers want more updates to "Minecraft." The mind boggles.

If you played "Parasite Eve" in its first incarnation for PlayStation, you may find it a little sobering to realize that the game came out 12 years ago. Aged youngsters who've never seen a first-gen PlayStation are now old enough to play the M-rated horror RPG, though, and Square Enix designer Tetsuya Nomura has revealed that his company is going to give them the chance to download it and/or "Parasite Evil 2" for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable.

Years before Steam made a big splash by arriving on Mac with games like "Half-Life 2" and "Portal" right behind it, "Civilization" was already there. The turn-based strategy field has benefited greatly on Apple systems since Steam made that move, but "Civilization 5" really needed to be there too. Aspyr Media and 2K Games are going to make it happen, though, they've made their Mac edition official.

"Angry Birds" grabbed some attention and ton of downloads when it launched for free on Android phones a few days ago. EA Mobile claims to have had iPhones and iPads in mind, however, when Electronic Arts finalized a deal to buy the game's publisher Chillingo. Rumors began circulating ahead of EA's official confirmation that a deal took place, but a representative acknowledged that the acquisition has been made.

"Fallout: New Vegas" was meant to contain many mysterious wonders, but a few uninvited guests apparently came along for the ride in the form of spinning heads, floating guns and crashing. It's not the first game to reach the market with a few bugs, but the developers know they're there, and official details may be on the way soon regarding some appropriate patches.

How does Nintendo prove that their latest non-game for the Nintendo DS, "Art Academy," is a full-featured illustration suite? By drawing me, of course. You can see the pic above. I'm the one on the left.
In case you're not familiar, "Art Academy" is both a tool for teaching people how to draw, and a studio for people creating sketches on the go. It's pretty robust, with varying brush types, paint mixing, step-by-step lessons and a ton more. It's sort of like that infomercial where the dude asks if you can draw a tree by following the guide that comes in the mail, and from that you can get a diploma or something. The difference is that "Art Academy" isn't a total scam.

This may not have been the best week for John Romero to launch his new Facebook game "Ravenwood Fair" with LOLapps, a company who had games taken down and later restored amid those privacy breach concerns that recently emerged and implicated several major social gaming players. LOLapps reportedly claims to be working to comply with Facebook's standards, however, and they've gone ahead and launched Romero's new creation, which looks nothing like his previous efforts "Doom" and "Quake."
