'Red Dead Redemption' Land Grab Mode To Make You Defend Your Land

Posted 10/22/10 4:30 pm EST by Brian Warmoth in News, PS3, Xbox 360

RDR Land Grab mode

Not everything about Rockstar's new Undead Nightmare pack for "Red Dead Redemption" will be horror-themed. It's going to come bundled with some new multiplayer options, and at least one of them will only feature characters without rotting flesh. There will be a co-op zombie-hunting mode called Undead Overrun, as well as a king-of-the-hill-style Land Grab mode that supports posse play.

Land Grab will be accessible via Multiplayer Free Roam by paying a visit to Armadillo, Blackwater, Chuparosa, Escalera, Las Hermanas, MacFarlane’s Ranch and Thieves Landing and activating a labeled post, according to the Rockstar Games blog. The gist is that you'll need to defend your claim along with any posse members you may have while gunning for your enemies and their claims. Those who hold their ground for the longest periods of time will receive the most XP when a match ends.

Conveniently enough, you won't need to purchase the Undead Nightmare pack to participate in these matches, though you will have to own a copy in order to start a match, so if you want to do that, have your 800 MS points or $9.99 ready to spend on October 26 over Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network.

Much like "Grand Theft Auto 4" before it, "RDR" has been investing heavily (if not more so) in its online multiplayer activities, and Land Grab sounds like another fine option to put out there. The "Left 4 Dead"-esque play of Undead Overrun looks pretty swell too, however. Choices will have to be made.

Are you interested in the Undead Nightmare pack for "RDR" yet? What do you think of the new multiplayer modes? Share your opinions with us in the comment section below.
