"FarmVille" fell under scrutiny along with other Facebook apps in a privacy breach investigation recently, but Zynga's flagship agriculture game has gone ahead and given its iPhone release some company in the App Store in the form of an iPad app. The crop-planting, Facebook-connecting app is now available and aims to make use of its new platform's touchscreen real estate.
"We want to reach people wherever they want to play the games they love, and deliver the most fun and social experience on every platform," Zynga president of studios Steven Chiang said in a press release. "The iPad is a spectacular gaming device, and the new 'FarmVille' app leverages its larger touch screen interface and enhanced graphics. 'FarmVille' on the iPhone was an instant hit and now we are giving people another Apple device to play on."
The app gives its users access to existing farms, as well as the ability to create new farms, and with that, one more portal into the pixelated social gaming metropolis that Zynga has constructed.
This may not be the game-changer that the iPhone app was in terms of expanding options for constant connectivity to "FarmVille," but it may allow for more leisurely large-screened farm maintenance, which full-time addicts — er, experts — will enjoy. Whatever it does, I'm sure it'll get downloaded about a trillion times and claim another spot on another App Store top ten list. There are certain facts like this in life that just need to be accepted.
