Players who do things Bungie doesn't like during "Halo: Reach" online play get punished. Players who help them reach their goal of 117 million daily and weekly challenge completions, however, get rewarded — or at least they will once that mark gets eclipsed and level caps get lifted as a result. The milestone is expected to arrive sometime in November, at which point the glass ceiling for "Reach" titles will no longer stop at Lieutenant Colonel Grade C.
"According to our forums, you'd be led to believe that we’re all at max rank with nothing left to live for. Of course, our stats say otherwise," a Bungie rep wrote in an update on Bungie.net.
New ranks and armor are both waiting to be unlocked by the collective "Reach" community, and Bungie's staff predicts that the unlock will happen next month.
"Well, I do know that when you do cross the 117 Million mark, we'll celebrate by blowing the lid off the level cap," the Bungie spokesperson explained. "In the immediate aftermath, new ranks and armor will be made magically available for you inside The Armory, provided you have the rank and credits required."
Cheaters, in the meantime, are still being screened and will be denied such rewards whenever Bungie identifies them, but if you're a good, rule-abiding citizen in their eyes, you'll be able to augment your Spartan as you see fit.
Are you anywhere near where you need to be to level up into the new "Reach" ranks? Do you think Bungie waited too long to make new ranks available? Share your opinions with us in the comment section below.
