'Red Dead Redemption' DLC Coming To Retail On A Disc

Posted 10/15/10 7:00 pm EST by Brian Warmoth in News

RDR DLC disc

"NBA Jam" isn't the only game wedging its way into a headline this week with news of a disc-based release. Rockstar's "Red Dead Redemption" promotion machine has mostly been focused on the game's Undead Nightmare DLC that comes out on October 26. They stuffed a piece of news in at the bottom of a recent post, however, stating that the pack of content will be released on a disc, as well as digitally, along with a collection of other "RDR" treats.

The Outlaws to the End Co-Op Mission Pack, Legends and Killers Pack, Liars and Cheats Pack and Multiplayer Free Roam modes will also be included in an undated standalone package for $29.99, according to a post on RockStarGames.com. Oh, and the bundle will "not require a copy of 'Red Dead Redemption' to play." Sound good?

I guess there must be a demographic of hardcore zombie lovers out there who refrain from playing pure cowboy games but remain open to purchasing zombie-cowboy games on their own. Whatever the case may be, $30 for the multiplayer features and all of those missions isn't a bad offer. I'm not sure from reading this whether or not owners of the original game and those who only pick up the Undead disc will be able to play each other, but that sounds like the kind of question Rockstar will address at some point before it comes out.

Would you rather pick up all of this extra "RDR" content on a disc that download it? Would you buy without playing the core game? Share your responses with us in the comment section below.
