'Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned' Cancelled At Propaganda

Posted 10/15/10 2:12 pm EST by Brian Warmoth in News, PS3, Xbox 360

Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned cancelled

Disney had some Fable-scale aspirations at one point for its action/RPG Jack Sparrow-verse game "Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned." Alas, the game has set sail for Davy Jones's Locker instead of store shelves now, as layoffs over at Propaganda Games have forced the project into cancellation."

"Disney Interactive Studios confirms the cancellation of the 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned' video game which was scheduled to be released in 2011," Disney Interactive Studios vice president of communication Angela Emery told Kotaku. "As a result of this decision, Disney Interactive Studios completed a restructuring of Propaganda Games, its Vancouver, BC internal studio, affecting one of the studio's two development teams.

Don't worry about your precious "Tron: Evolution" Collectors' Edition packages, though.

"The studio is still in active production of 'Tron: Evolution,' the video game, which will be released on December 7, 2010 with additional DLC (downloadable content) support following the game's release," Emery said.

So your light cycle is safe. Don't go calling GameStop customer service asking what's going on. If you were wondering when your limited edition scale replica of the Black Pearl was going to be unveiled with a limited edition wearable eye patch as a part of a special "Armada of the Damned" bundle, however, this just may not have been your week.

Were you looking forward to playing "Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned"? Is the well-being of "Tron: Evolution" enough to calm your beating heart? Share your responses with us in the comment section below.
