Jimi Hendrix Crowns 2,000+ 'Rock Band' Tracks With 'Are You Experienced'

Posted 10/8/10 6:00 pm EST by Brian Warmoth in News, PS3, Wii, Xbox 360

Jimi Hendrix Rock Band

The music of Jimi Hendrix has kicked it in the Rock Band series before; "Lego Rock Band" brought him onboard, and "Crosstown Traffic" was already outed for "Rock Band 3." On October 12, a special edition of "Are You Experienced" will be put up for sale, with the tracks going for $1.99, 160 Microsoft Points or 200 Wii points each. You'll also be able to pick up the whole shebang for $19.99 or 1600 MSP.

The album, recorded by The Jimi Hendrix Experience and released in 1967, already has a place carved out in rock and roll history, but it will snag a unique honor for "Rock Band" as well, since it will push the total count of available tracks past the 2,000 mark.

"The success of our song downloads has afforded us the opportunity to approach 'Rock Band' as an interactive music platform and reshape the way gamers think of expansion content," senior vice president of electronic games, music and programming for MTV Networks Paul DeGooyer said in a press release. "Our commitment to weekly releases, disc export, forward compatibility of downloads and the launch of the Rock Band Network were milestones in the development of 'Rock Band''s vibrant digital business. Now, with the release of our 2,000th song, we are reaffirming our commitment to present new music every week — and with the new features in 'Rock Band 3,' there will be more ways than ever to experience it."

Here's what you'll have access to, with the "+" designated tracks that are also downloadable for "Lego Rock Band":

• "Purple Haze" +
• "Manic Depression" +
• "Hey Joe (Live)" – Voodoo Child: The Jimi Hendrix Collection
• "Love or Confusion" +
• "May This Be Love" +
• "The Wind Cries Mary" +
• "Fire (Live)" – Woodstock
• "3rd Stone from the Sun" +
• "Foxey Lady" +
• "Are You Experienced?"
• "Stone Free" – Valleys of Neptune +
• "Highway Chile" +

Try not to sent your guitar controllers on fire in all the excitement. The plastic won't smell too good as it's melting apart.

Are you glad to see "Are You Experienced" coming to "Rock Band"? Are there any other Hendrix albums you'd like to see put up for sale too? Share your suggestions with us in the comment section below.
