'Duke Nukem Forever' Demo Available To 'Borderlands' GOTY Buyers

Posted 10/6/10 9:00 am EST by Brian Warmoth in 3DS / DS, iPhone / iPad, News, PC, PS3, Wii, Xbox 360

Duke Nukem Forever

Now that Gearbox has revived "Duke Nukem Forever" for a 2011 release, they're hoping they can leverage the legendary title's decade of hype to sell a few more copies of the "Borderlands" Game of the Year Edition. Buyers will be able to gain early access to "DNF" via membership in the "Duke Nukem Forever" First Access Club.

Membership certificates provided by Gearbox will allow registrants to gain early access to a "DNF" demo, according to a press release. The new "Borderlands" bundle goes on sale October 12, and Gearbox says this "select group of First Access Club members will be the first to play" "DNF."

The GOTY label will also net you "The Zombie Island or Dr. Ned," "Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot," "The Secret Armory of General Knoxx" and "Claptrap's New Robot Revolution," of course, but "DNF" privileges are nothing to scoff at. In fact, such an experience is arguably comparable to being allowed inside the alien autopsy facility as Roswell (whether it exists or not).

The same pack will be available on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC this month, though the announcement doesn't specify exactly when the demo will be unleashed — only that it will show up "prior to the retail launch of the game." It would be kind of funny if it took ten more years to come out.

Is the "DNF" demo going to be enough to sell you on the "Borderlands" re-release? Are you expecting to see good things from Gearbox? Share your responses with us in the comment section below.
