'Left 4 Dead 2' Available For Mac Tomorrow With Free DLC

Posted 10/4/10 4:06 pm EST by Brian Warmoth in Mac, News

Left 4 Dead 2 Mac

Valve brought back Versus Survival Mode for "Left 4 Dead 2" last week, and this week they'll be sprucing up the the core title for a brand new platform. Ever since they brought Steam to Mac systems earlier this year, titles like "Portal" and "Team Fortress 2" began trickling in as well, and now "L4D2" will officially be there too.

"'Left 4 Dead 2' will be released on the Mac Tuesday October 5th," an update on the official "L4D2" "Sacrifice" DLC page stated. "If you already own it on the PC, then you own it on the Mac. All you need to do is install it on your Mac and start playing."

Furthermore, anyone who buys the game via Steam will also get a library of existing DLC for no extra charge. That includes "The Passing," "The Sacrifice" and "No Mercy," and its an excellent deal.

As for the original "Left 4 Dead," Valve apologized for not having a Mac port ready yet. They're shooting for a Halloween launch, however, and plan on including a similar kind of free DLC bundling when it arrives.

It's a compelling offer for anyone who doesn't own these games on another platform already. Valve knows how to scratch their customers' value itches on Steam, and it sounds like they will have done about everything they can for zombie fans by the end of the month.

Do you plan on grabbing "L4D2" for Mac? What other games would you like to see Steam make available to users? Share your suggestions with us in the comment section below.
