While Xbox Live Arcade may have netted "Radiant Silvergun" for a downloadable release next year, Sony appears to have their own plan in motion that includes making imports like "Cho Aniki" and "GaiaSeed" available, starting with an update next Tuesday when that 3-D Blu-ray playing capability also launches.

APB refunds

Realtime Worlds' MMO "APB" tried to do a few things differently, but now that the game has been shut down while its company deals with the U.K. equivalent of bankruptcy, those who bought it less than three months ago may be curious to know how they can go about getting a refund for gameplay that they'll never be able to enjoy. Well, the official word from the firm handling communications for Realtime Worlds right now is directing those requests to the retailers who have been selling the game.

Sports Champions

If there's one thing that Nintendo did right with the launch of the Nintendo Wii it was to include "Wii Sports" (and later "Wii Sports Resort") as a pack-in game when the console was released. The sports mini-game compilation showed off the new technology, while bringing people together in a fun, yet competitive atmosphere. With the release of the Playstation Move, Sony is attempting to do something similar with their sports game compilation that they've chosen as their bundle game, "Sports Champions," and while the packages do appear similar on the surface, if you dig in deeper its easy to see that there are are enough difference to make "Champions" feel like a new experience.

Gran Turismo 5

In addition to more than 200 cars, Polyphony Digital's "Gran Turismo 5" plans on integrating some interesting new console-to-web-browser racing features that will keep your racing from being tied down to the PlayStation 3. PS3's will still be needed to act as servers for this "b-spec mode," but participants will be allowed to participate remotely after logging in from a browser.

Obama video game competition

U.S. President Barack Obama has campaigned in video games, congratulated winners in video games, and will hopefully appear in "NBA Jam." This week, however, he announced that he's supporting a contest inviting middle schoolers and experienced developers to design games for a chance to win some prizes and help out the country. It's called the National STEM (science, technology, engineering & math) Video Game Challenge, and it's got the backing of the Entertainment Software Association, Microsoft and AMD.

Epic Mickey

Junction Point's "Epic Mickey" is coming along swimmingly and is likely be one of the best 3rd party Wii games ever released. I had a brief walkthrough of some of the game's intro levels today and the mix of platforming, puzzle mechanics and morality choices (a staple of the game's creator, Warren Spector) are looking exceedingly sharp. But something caught my eye while I was playing through the preview build: Mickey's ears.

PSP 2

"Portal 2" disappointed some people when it got delayed into 2011. Pre-orders are still being taken, though, and GameStop lists a bonus with the potential to be extremely awesome. The concept of co-op campaigns in the sequel already has gamers buzzing, but the retailer wants to entice buyers to venture off of Valve's Steam service for the purchase by sweetening the deal with $5 off and "Custom Bots."

Sony Move

If there are any gamers out there that are still wondering whether or not motion based gaming is just a fad, this week Sony are taking a firm stance in the "It's here to stay" camp by releasing their Move controllers. While it isn't Sony's first foray into stand-up gaming (the PS2's Eyetoy games were only but a blip in that console's history) it is its strongest, garnering extensive third-party support and even going so far as to update some of their already released titles to take advantage of their new technology.

It's clear that swinging your arms is now a permanent fixture of this generation of games, but the PS3 is a console that wasn't originally designed around this specific control style, and it beckons the question of whether or not Move is worth anyone's time or attention.
