Halo: Reach

"Halo: Reach" has been having disagreements extending beyond the "Fall of Reach" novel, according to accounts from 4GB Xbox 360 owners who've hit snags while trying to join co-op campaign missions. The problem seems to stem from a memory issue that affected "Halo O.D.S.T." as well, but people are reportedly on the case behind the scenes.

Devil May Cry

Capcom made a surprise announcement at this year's Tokyo Game Show. Seems they've got a new "Devil May Cry" game on the way, but instead of telling the on-going travails of a white-haired dude named Dante, we've got a dark haired dude...named Dante. He's still got guns, he's still fighting demons, but there's definitely been a stylistic shift for this reboot, which Capcom is calling simply "DmC." The reason for the shift? For the first time in the "Devil May Cry" franchise, this new game will be developed by a western developer. That developer is Ninja Theory.

HAWX 2

Last year, Ubisoft did a good thing for fans of flight combat simulator games. In a market dominated almost entirely by the "Ace Combat" series, the publisher's Romania studio developed a new game under the Tom Clancy umbrella. Something to tie into the larger story and give gamers a fresh take on flight combat sims. "H.A.W.X." was born, an exceedingly entertaining entry in the genre that, while imperfect, managed to introduce a few new quirks that felt like something fresh.

Now, a year-plus later, Ubisoft is back with "Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. 2." How does it measure up? Let's find out.

Dead Rising 2: Case West

Capcom tried out a new trick when they pushed a "Dead Rising 2" prequel out onto Xbox Live ahead of the core game's release, and it looks like they'll bookend the game with a third title that should get some reactions from Frank West fans. "Dead Rising 2: Case West" will bring back the first installment's hero and team him with weapon-taping zombie-killer extraordinaire Chuck Greene.

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light

Some "Lara Croft and the Guardian Of Light" players may have cried when they downloaded the game to their Xbox 360 and discovered that co-op play was only available locally. When the game comes out on September 28 for the PlayStation Network, however, it's going to have online co-op available there, on the PC and on the 360 via a new patch. Square Enix reiterated as much today in an update to Europeans, though their PC launch has yet to be dated.

Halo: Reach

"Halo: Reach" released at 12:01am this morning, but you can be sure there will be plenty of people playing straight through to the credits before tomorrow's dawn. A certain percentage of those hardcore "Halo" fans have probably read "Halo: The Fall of Reach," a novel which released in 2001 and told of the doomed fate of the planet of Reach.

By the time the credits roll in the "Halo: Reach," those who read the novel may be left scratching their heads, as there's a pretty big inconsistency between the events of the game and the events of the book. I spoke to Marcus Lehto, the Creative Director of "Halo: Reach," about what sort of work they put into making sure the game and the book blended, and what should be considered true "Halo" canon.

NOTE: THIS IS A HUGE SPOILER. IF YOU HAVEN'T FINISHED "HALO: REACH" AND DON'T WANT THE END OF THE GAME RUINED, STOP READING NOW.

"Resident Evil: Afterlife" beat "Resident Evil 6" to audiences' wallets, and now the race is on to see if Capcom will put a new sequel out before Milla Jovovich and Paul W.S. Angry Birds

"Angry Birds" has sat atop the iPhone charts for ages now. Its aggressive 99 cent price tag has certainly helped that along, as has its surprisingly entertaining physics-based, pig-crushing gameplay. RovioMobile has supported the game for months, adding dozens of new levels every few weeks, which are free to those who have purchased the game. In the end, it's a remarkable value for a dollar, but Rovio is trying to find new ways to make money off their hit. One of the ways is known as The Mighty Eagle.
