No, that above shot is not Claptrap reborn in human form ala Bender in that Tales of Interest "Futurama" episode. It's just an angry dude who may or may not be allied with Claptrap and his burgeoning ranks of revolutionary robots. His anger is uncalled for, though, as there are plenty of reasons to rejoice. For example, the next piece of "Borderlands" DLC, "Claptrap's New Robot Revolution," is coming next week, on September 29.
We first learned of this new piece of "Borderlands" DLC when an industrious fan leaked most of the details, which he discovered deep within the bowels of a recent patch. Since then Gearbox has said that those leaked details were pretty preliminary and that the final version should have new surprises in store.
As for stuff we know is in there? "Claptrap's New Robot Revolution" adds six new areas to explore, a bunch of new enemies (including killer Claptraps!), two new skill points and a bunch of new achievements. The developers are also increasing the level cap yet again, with 8 new levels. It's unclear whether all of those levels will also include skill points, or whether they'll just allow you increased killing capacity.
Oh, and let's return to that angry dude. Yes, it seems all of the original "Borderlands" bosses will return in "Claptrap's New Robot Revolution," but will be kitted out with extra special robot gear. After all, Claptrap is a robot of the people.
It's great to see a game like "Borderlands" getting so much support after release. Only "Fallout 3" has seen this sort of long-term DLC support, and so long as these DLCs keep selling, I'm sure 2K Games and Gearbox are more than happy to oblige. Expect the faucet to turn off the moment word starts to spread about "Borderlands 2," though.
"Claptrap's New Robot Revolution" is out on September 29 for PC, Xbox Live and PSN for ten bucks.
