'Shadows Of The Damned' Could Have Been For Wii And PC Too

Posted 9/21/10 12:00 pm EST by Brian Warmoth in News, PC, PS3, Wii, Xbox 360

Shadows of the Damned Wii PC

"Shadows of the Damned," the new zombie/horror/action shooter from the creators of "No More Heroes" and "Resident Evil" turned out to be a PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 title when Goichi Suda and Shinji Mikami unveiled it during a Tokyo Game Show announcement last week. It wasn't always destined to be exclusive to those two consoles, however. In fact, it was originally planned to be on the Wii and PC, which is something you don't see every day.

"As we developed the game, we found that it would be a lot better with action elements," Suda told 1UP. "Garcia, the character, is very strong and cool, so we thought we should probably switch to become more of an action game."

The Grasshopper Manufacture head didn't feel like explaining why plans changed, but he did claim that the game's production hasn't been delayed despite the shift in platform gears.

Grasshopper has produced a couple of my all-time favorite Wii game in "No More Heroes" and "No More Heroes 2," and Capcom's "Resident Evil 4" port is up there on my list, too, so if anyone could have made a big-name title work across the PS3, 360, Wii and PC, I'm sure it would have been these two guys. Nevertheless, that Unreal Engine 3 will probably look a lot better when its running on Sony and Microsoft's boxes without a lesser-looking Wii counterpart to drag it down.

Do you think Suda and Mikami made the right call sticking with the PS3 and 360? Would you have rather seen it on the Wii and/or PC? Share your responses with us in the comment section below.
