Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami and "No More Heroes" mastermind Goichi Suda seem to have developed something between "Doom" and Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino's "From Dusk Till Dawn," and they've decided to call it "Shadows of the Damned." The game was officially named in a Tokyo Game Show presentation where it received a trailer and a publisher in the form of Electronic Arts.
"By partnering with EA, a publisher that truly shares our commitment to quality and innovation, we have been able to develop 'Shadows of the Damned' according to our ambitious vision while creating an entertainment property we believe will appeal to a global audience," Suda said, according a report on GamesIndustry.biz.
The trailer indicates that its mystic demon-blaster should be out for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2011. So far it looks more like a Mikami game than a Suda51 release, but the Grasshopper Manufacture head implied that his his trademark over-the-top style from "Killer7" and the "NMH" will be a part of the pictures.
"We are excited to finally take the cover off our latest project and invite gamers from around the globe to experience this new, warped world we have created," Suda explained.
EA in turn expressed their excitement to be publishing "Shadows of the Damned" and deemed it one of their more ambitious title.
"This is one of the most daring and innovative projects in the EA Partners program," EA Partners general manager David DeMartini said. "We look forward to launching this game next summer."
This should be a fun game to watch blossom, and by "blossom" I mean erupt in the most ludicrously enjoyable, fiery and glorious way possible on my console.
