Capcom tried out a new trick when they pushed a "Dead Rising 2" prequel out onto Xbox Live ahead of the core game's release, and it looks like they'll bookend the game with a third title that should get some reactions from Frank West fans. "Dead Rising 2: Case West" will bring back the first installment's hero and team him with weapon-taping zombie-killer extraordinaire Chuck Greene.
"Apologies to PS3 fans, but this too will be an Xbox 360 exclusive," Capcom global head of research and development Keiji Inafune said upon announcing "Case West" at the Tokyo Game Show, according to a report on Joystiq. Another account of the event on Kotaku confirms what you had to be wondering when you first saw this headline — yes, tandem Frank/Chuck co-op will be involved.
The XBL exclusive will provide an epilogue for "DR2." As far as whether or not that means the game's DLC train will end there, we'll have to wait and see. Capcom could always squeeze another character or a "further adventures of Chuck and Frank"-style pack into the marketplace. Right now, they have a nice, symmetrical DLC sandwich set up though. The more pressing question may be how long it takes for them to put together a retail package that includes all three parts. It sounds like something a few gamers out there might want to spend some post-holiday money on.
