Walmart Confirms 'ICO + Shadow of the Colossus' Release For PS3

Posted 9/13/10 10:30 am EST by Brian Warmoth in News, PS3

Team ICO Collection

Amazon France seemed pretty convinced that a Team ICO collection would be on its way to the PlayStation 3 earlier this year, and though that listing has since been taken down, Walmart has put a new catalog entry up that invites shoppers to pre-order "ICO" and "Shadow of the Colossus" together for $39.82 on Sony's console.

The item should arrive by "04/01/2011" if you preorder now, though it isn't currently available in brick-and-mortar stores, according to its page on Walmart.com (via GamesRadar). That's even earlier than the French post predicted when it tagged such a collection for June of next year.

Assuming both instances meant to reference the same product, the fabled remastering of two PS2 classics now has a second wind of rumors to keep it sailing into the new year. An official announcement at the Tokyo Game Show would be both timely and helpful in cementing the Team ICO collection's status, but since HD PS3 remakes are already something that we know publishers out there are working on and "ICO" and "Shadow of the Colossus" were two of the most gorgeous looking games ever to grace the PS3, it's probably safe to assume something is in the works.

Furthermore, Team ICO's latest game "The Last Guardian" could be out next year, so it would make a lot of sense from them to float a "greatest hits"-style collection out to retail to accompany its descendent on shelves.

Would you pick up an "ICO"/"Shadow of the Colossus" remake for the PS3? What other PS2 classics would you like to see receive such a treatment? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
