One of the hardest fought battles in "Final Fantasy XIV" may occur off-screen as Square Enix balances the interests of players with more than 15 hours per week to spend playing their new MMO and those with less time and normal work schedules to adhere to. The company revealed that "FFXIV" will award full XP during eight hours worth of playtime and allow limited XP for another seven hours before capping a player's XP altogether for the remainder of every seven-day period. Needless to say, the hardcore players out there who derive self esteem and status from multi-day level-up marathons are not pleased. One of the game's developers responded to these challenges.

It turns out that the Playboy brand appearances in "Dead Rising 2" weren't enough to satisfy the company's hunger for gaming exposure. They've partnered up with a German company called Bigpoint to start up their own yet-to-be-named game publishing label, and their first title will be a "Saints Row"-ish MMOG called "Poisonville."

There's a big part of the video game industry that a lot of gamers either don't know, or don't care to think about, and it's the time and effort that go into making videos. As a developer it's a very daunting task, and opportunities can slip through your fingers at a moment's notice, for reasons completely unbeknownst to you. These are all things that "Castlevania: Lords of Shadow" Producer David Cox knows all too well, because two and a half years ago, he had to fight to keep his game alive.

This past year has been pretty busy for Apple and it seems the company isn't taking a vacation anytime soon. Yet another ultra-secret press conference has been planned for September 1, the subject of which is, well, ultra-secret. All we have to go on is the image that came along with the invite, which is pictured above. Yep, it's an acoustic guitar with the Apple logo cleverly carved into the sound hole. If that doesn't scream music, nothing does.

"Dead Rising 2" is uncannily similar to its zombie-filled predecessor. The same zany sense of humor, the same campaign structure, the same use-anything-within-reach-against-the-zombie-hordes combat. There are obviously new features to discuss (co-op, combo weapons and a much swankier graphics engine), but the core of the game is relatively untouched. In this preview, I'll be breaking down the old and the new and how they collide.

As with every rhythm game, the question of the full track list is always top of mind, and "Rock Band 3" is no different. While Harmonix has been slowly revealing groups of titles, they haven't gone so far as to announce the track list in its entirety. Those mysterious tracks were unveiled today. You can check out the full list of 83 songs below, including a few exclusives for the DS version of "Rock Band 3."

You made needs some peripherals to go on your peripherals when Kinect launches for the Xbox 360 in November, and Performance Designed Products has a few proposals. They'll be releasing a wall mount for $14.99, a TV mount for $39.99, a cable extension for $49.99 and a floor stand for $29.99 in time for Kinect's launch, according to their announcement, indicating that they're looking ahead to the various ways Xbox owners will want to secure Microsoft's new motion control system.

EA Sports put one big question to rest when they announced that "NBA Jam" would be available with "NBA Elite 11" for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in addition to being sold on its own exclusively for the Wii. And while we know that Dennis Rodman, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird will appear in the game, we still don't know which unlockable celebrities in the tradition of Bill Clinton, George Clinton and Warren Moon will be included. Here are ten faces that EA should consider:
PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA
This one seems like the biggest gimme of all. Obama is already making an appearance in "Madden NFL 11" this year, so an "NBA Jam" follow-up would be perfectly reasonable.
BILL MURRAY
Murray has been known to visit NBA arenas and show up at NCAA tournament games, and let's not forget his appearance in "Space Jam." The real question is who out there wouldn't want to suit him up for a few dunks?

Microsoft's cross-platform gaming across Windows Phone 7, PC's and the Xbox 360 that was discussed in Dubai earlier this year may not be available in its entirety when Windows Phone 7 games launch for mobile devices, but they will be able to do turn-by-turn phone-to-PC gaming and eventually realtime phone-to-console gaming eventually, a Microsoft representative has confirmed.

The "Wii Party" developers at Nd Cube have worked so closely with Nintendo since Nd Cube was formed as a subsidiary under the Mario makers and the advertising firm Dentsu in 2000 that many Wii owners might already have assumed they were entirely an extension of Nintendo in Japan. As of August 2010, they are, and Nintendo has taken the additional step of bringing some Mario Party devs from Hudson into their fold as well.
