Valve will be keeping a lot of options open for players who dive into their new "Sacrifice" DLC for "Left 4 Dead" and "Left For Dead 2." The story, which will be previewed in an upcoming digital comic this September, leaves room for alternate paths to be taken and explains how the team from the first game lost one of its members. The four-part comic covering the characters' backstories, meanwhile, will be drawn by Brian Michael Bendis' "Powers" collaborator, artist Mike Oeming.
"We have a 150-plus-page comic coming out beforehand," Valve writer Chet Faliszek told GameTrailers TV. "[It's a] digital comic and it's drawn by Mike Oemming from 'Powers' fame. He's on staff here, so we worked with him really closely on it."
The comic will lead in to "The Sacrifice," which will cost you some points on Xbox Live or come free over Steam for PC and Mac.
"You'll end up at 'The Sacrifice,' and then you'll see the perfect way it can play out, and then you're gonna play the DLC where you get to play it how it plays out for you," Faliszek explained.
That means you'll get to pick who bites the dust in the DLC, and though Faliszek acknowledged that the late Bill's story is over in the series, Valve will be prepping more content to release down the line.
"It's is not the end," he said. "We are going to continue going — except for Bill."
