New 'Super Street Fighter 4' Challenger More Or Less Confirmed For Arcade Edition

The "Super Street Fighter 4" arcade machine looked as though it might be getting a new challenger or two last month, and far from denying such plans, Capcom seems to have encouraged speculation and in doing so confirmed that at least one new face is on its way.

"There was actually a hint hidden in the location test," the "Super Street Fighter 4" arcade edition's assistant producer Tomoaki Ayano revealed, as translated at Andriasang. "A mysterious shadow between Juri and Hakan."

The silhouette he references (which may or may not be the same to the left of Juri and to the right of Hakan) appears to be that of a wide, bald, male head. It's a fairly generic shape, and Capcom could have gone ahead and created a brand new character for the game. If they're resurrecting an old face, though, the only fighters I could see lining up in that circle are Necro, Oro or possibly Rolento with no hat and a close shave across his scalp.

The floor is certainly open for speculation here, but if there are one or more characters added to the arcade version of "SSF4," console owners are going to start wondering about potential DLC follow-ups for the home edition. We've seen costumes released and extra fighters on iPhone, but some new Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 DLC in the form of new playable challengers would be a big move.

Or maybe it'll just be "Dark Sagat" or another doppelganger version of a someone already featured in the game.

Who do you think the mystery shadow is? Who would you like to see Capcom put in the arcade edition of "SSF4"? Let us know in the comment section below.
