"DJ Hero 2" has more than just a fall release on the calendar. The game now has a date attached for DJ Qbert, DJ Shadow and everyone else manning the turntables. They will come to North America on October 19 and Europe on October 22.
Those dates leaves plenty of breathing room for "Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock" when it comes out in September and gives the game a one-week head start on "Rock Band 3," which hits on October 26.
Everyone from Tupac to Chamillionaire, Metallica, The Chemical Brothers and Stevie Wonder have been announced for the new sequel, so it looks like Activision will have quite the party ready for you and your turntable competitors.
The real competition will be going on at retail, though. Music games with special controllers will be one more front in the holiday selling wars this year. With Kinect and Move pushing themselves on consumers and "DJ Hero 2" showing off its turntables while "Rock Band 3" premiers its keytars, there are going to be a lot of new devices looking to grab some real estate in front of your TV.
Some music gamers may want everything, but budgets, space, currently-owned instrument setups could all force some hard decisions during Q4 2010. Meanwhile, Wii owners with enough space may just opt to go with "Just Dance 2," which doesn't require any instrument controllers other than your body and dance moves. That brings us to the real question, though. How long will it be before there's a game that utilizes both DJ'ing and dancing?
Any bets? What do you think the biggest music game of 2010 will turn out to be? Are you excited about "DJ Hero 2"? Let us know in the comment section or on Twitter!
