The march of "Marvel vs. Capcom 3" characters continues, as two more playable fighters were revealed by Capcom today: Viewtiful Joe and Dormammu, the arch-foe of Doctor Strange.
Viewtiful Joe's presence in "Marvel vs. Capcom 3" shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone who watched the last "Marvel vs. Capcom 3" trailer closely. Keen eyes spotted Viewtiful Joe among the mysterious silhouettes of characters flashed on the screen at the end of the trailer. Thankfully it's pretty easy to make out a 3-foot-tall dude with a giant head and tiny body.
He makes for a pretty obvious fit in "Marvel vs. Capcom 3," as his time-slowing abilities and over-the-top Hollywood style would work really well for the franchise. Also, Capcom already included him in their last fighting game, "Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All Stars."
And then there's Dormammu. Of all the Marvel characters with flaming heads, he's certainly not the most well-known. And yet, that's what "Marvel vs. Capcom" is all about: a mix of well-known characters with deeper cuts, which is a great way to introduce fans to faces they may be unfamiliar with.
Dormammu's presence in "Marvel vs. Capcom 3" was made known during E3, when he appeared in a cinematic trailer, but up until now he was assumed to be a non-playable boss character. Does that mean we'll be getting Doctor Strange next? Please say yes! Mystic doctors are my favorite kind of doctor (with ninja doctors coming in as a close second).
There's a handful of additional screens of Joe and Dormammu on Capcom's site, if you're looking for that sort of thing.
