GamesCom: 'Dragon Age 2' Dated And Granted A Trailer

Posted 8/17/10 5:02 pm EST by Brian Warmoth in News, PC, PS3, Xbox 360

Dragon Age 2

"Dragon Age 2" won't quite make it out for a release date in February 2011, but the good news is that it is now officially expected to launch in North America on March 8 and in Europe on March 11. A new trailer also debuted with the calendar commitment, and you can find it embedded after the jump.

EA broke out their launch date and trailer at a press conference this morning, according to Shacknews. As you can see in the video, the weapons are still big, and the game will contain both blood and fire. Unfortunately, there's no last-minute note about exclusive swords or XP benefits for fully leveled up "Dragon Age: Origins" players, but the combat does look intense.

According the report, EA specifically addressed play control at the press conference, stating that "when you press a button, something awesome happens." If you had control gripes with "Origins" but loved what was going on on the screen, you should be happy to know that.

The clips proclaims that some men battle against destiny and lose, while other embrace destiny and do not show their fear. It's probably safe to assume that the heroic types in this game will fall into the latter category, but you never know. Maybe there's a twist.

In other unsurprising news, the marketing team at work here definitely wants you to associate "Dragon Age 2" with "Lord of the Rings," and they included a narrator and proper imagery in the form of a crown, fire and scary-looking mountains to help get that point across. There's a dragon in the trailer, too, in case you were worried. He just doesn't do too much beyond adding some drama to the logo.

What do you want to see in "Dragon Age 2"? Do you have high hopes? Let us know in the comment section or on Twitter! You can also follow me, MTV Multiplayer writer Brian Warmoth, on Twitter!
