Some of us who read about "Crysis 2" getting pushed into 2011 wondered what was going to become of that leaked "Crysis 2" Nano Edition, as well as that beta test that was supposed to happen this autumn. Well, EA sent out a press release, and those details now seem to be ironed out.
The "Crysis 2" Limited Edition and Nano Edition both include special unlockables and out-of-the-box XP for multiplayer leveling. The LE comes at no additional cost, however, whereas the NE will run you $149.99, according to the press release. Note that that's still about $50 less than some feared the package might cost when it first appeared on a Swedish site last month.
The metallic-spine backpack, Prophet statue, art book, SCAR hologram, and SCAR Weapon Skin are all listed for the Nano, though, so whoever posted the bundle on Webhallen must have gotten some legit info from somewhere.
A closed beta will still take place this fall on the Xbox 360, meanwhile and EA says that the game will be out on the 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in both 2-D and 3-D on March 22, 2011. At that point, you'll finally be able to complete your special ops ensemble of Call of Duty and "Crysis 2"-packaged incentive items, which is bound to make all of your neighbors feel safe when they wake up in the middle of the night to see you out on patrol in your nightvision goggles and prosthetic cargo spine while manning a radio-controlled spy car. I know that would be the kind of resident I'd like to see active in my local neighbor watch organization.
