The last time THQ started registering Red Faction domain names, we ended up with advance titles for a SyFy movie and game for 2011. Now, they've claimed the name "Red Faction: Battlegrounds," which doesn't have a project publicly attached to it at the moment, but sounds suspiciously like it could be a multiplayer game.
RedFactionBattlegrounds.com now belongs to THQ, according to a search done by Superannuation. Whether they're just covering their bases for a game still deep in its early stages or in the final weeks of preparation before making an announcement is impossible to say, but "Battlegrounds" would be a fitting title for a portable multiplayer game that involved large arenas and clusters of online gamers.
Volition has already revealed plans for a "Saints Row 3DS" release, and while they claim to have a mystery franchise in the works along with a few other titles, there's always a chance that they or someone else could be tinkering with a portable Red Faction game to show up in 2011 to support "Armageddon."
Or, it could just be be the name of a new Red Faction forum they want to host. Speculation is ours for the having.
