Next 'Borderlands' DLC Officially Revealed By Gearbox

An intrepid "Borderlands" fan kinda stole the thunder from this announcement, but Gearbox is finally confirming the details of the next "Boderlands" DLC pack. Titled "Claptrap's New Robot Revolution," the DLC will focus on the Interplanetary Ninja Assassin Claptrap that was created at the end of the main game's quest. Here's the official description from Gearbox:

"Claptrap's New Robot Revolution invites single-player and co-op fans back to try to suppress a deadly Claptrap revolution using one of four infamous vault hunters. The foursome find themselves caught in the crosshairs of a deadly civil war between the Hyperion Corporation's well-armed armadas and the ever-amassing army of homicidal Claptraps led by one of the most eagerly awaited characters in the franchise’s history - the cunning Ninja Assassin. As vault hunters, players must put aside their past differences with the Hyperion Corporation, namely the organization’s repeated attempts to wipe them from existence. For a hefty payday, they will join forces to help beat down the mechanical uprising and thwart the dastardly kung-fu expert, the Claptrap known only as Ninja Assassin."

The layout of the pack appears to stick to the traditional style of the main game, with a series of hub areas and quests (unlike the arena-based DLC of "Madd Moxxi"). 20 new missions, 10 unlockable skill points and 3 new backpack slots are promised. The pack is scheduled to release in September for all platforms.

At this point I'm sort of guessing that this will be the last "Boderlands" DLC pack we see. It's been a year since the original game launched and most DLC packs never make it past the six-month mark. Granted, it's all based on the success of these packs, but at a certain point I'm sure Gearbox will need to migrate staffers over to other projects. Personally, though, I'd love to see "Boderlands" DLC coming right up until the day "Borderlands 2" is released.
