Irrational Games' mystery initiative dubbed "Project Icarus" should be less of a mystery by the end of the week. Though whether or not the project will turn out to be a sequel to "BioShock 2" or a new franchise altogether is unclear, a message spelled out in a crisp font at the bottom of Irrational's teaser site lists August 12 at 1:45 PM EDT as a time of some significance.
Additionally, the small orb on their web page has begun moving slowly amid the mist covering WhatisIcarus.com. It looks more and more like we'll be seeing a game related to a planet or moon in some way, but until Irrational finally spills the details, all we'll have to go on is speculation.
The studio will be holding an event this Wednesday, so the 1:45 PM mark a day later could be some sort of follow-up. Then again, the website doesn't say anything about 2010, so maybe Ken Levine will just be standing up to let everyone know that they're going to announce this game on August 12, 2011. That would be terrible, though, so I'm going to give Irrational the benefit of the doubt that they have much, much more interesting things to say.
