Next 'Borderlands' DLC To Involve Lots Of Claptrap

Posted 8/6/10 3:19 pm EST by Russ Frushtick in News, PC, PS3, Xbox 360

Borderlands

Ever since the launch of "Borderlands," we've seen a healthy amount of high-quality downloadable content. The last DLC release, "The Secret Armory of General Knoxx," was the best yet, offering nearly 10 hours worth of gameplay for a paltry ten bucks. It's been months since "Knoxx," though, and we haven't heard a peep from Gearbox about more DLC. That doesn't mean they haven't been working, though!

One intrepid "Borderlands" fan on the Gearbox forums did some digging in the latest update for "Borderlands" and discovered some very interesting things. Quests, enemy types and locations that haven't appeared before, for example.

I'll let you read through the forums for all the information (though you should know that it's filled with spoilers). The gist, though, is that the Interplanetary Ninja Assassin Claptrap that was created when the vault was opened at the end of "Borderlands" is kicking off a Claptrap revolution to bring freedom to his working brothers across Pandora. Based on the enemy list, it sounds like you'll be battling these rogue claptraps en masse.

Caveat: Randy Pitchford isn't denying that this is where the next DLC is going, but, speaking with IGN, he did say that the leak is like a "draft of a script for a movie that hasn't even been announced yet, let alone launched - yeah you might learn something, but it's not the real thing and it could just drive you crazy thinking about it."

So all the elements listed in the post aren't finalized, but we're certainly going to see at least some of that stuff in the next DLC. Exciting! I've been waiting for claptrap-centric DLC since the game launched.
